Some of the UK’s most forward thinking financial advisers and wealth management firms have today been recognised for their role in promoting alternative investment and offering a more diversified and engaging investment proposition to their clients. Intelligent Partnership, the UK’s leading curator of education and insights on alternative investments,
has named the 12 finalists that will go on to compete for the coveted Financial Adviser of the Year and Wealth Manager of the Year awards.

Launched by Intelligent Partnership in 2015, the Growth Investor Awards specifically acknowledge those companies and individuals who are putting investment to work and helping start-up and ‘scale-up’ businesses realise their full potential and power Britain’s economy.

Guy Tolhurst, Managing Director of Intelligent Partnership, said: “Our second set of finalists recognises both individual financial advisers and wealth management companies, their commitment to research and education, how they apply their expertise to add value for their clients, and how proficiently they promote alternative investments. These two awards celebrate the stellar work being undertaken by the intermediary community to enhance their knowledge and apply their expertise to broaden their investment propositions and better serve the needs of their clients.”

Previous winners of the financial adviser of the year award were Carl Lamb of Almary Green and Jonothan McColgan of Combined Financial Strategies. UBS claimed the Wealth Manager of the Year award in 2016, which was won by Barclays Wealth in 2015.

Jonothan McColgan had this to say about his win in 2016, “Words do not do justice to how happy and honoured I was to win Financial Adviser of the Year at the Growth Investor Awards 2016. Winning this award against such tough competition from all over the country is the highlight of my career. I am really looking forward to trying to defend it in 2017.”

Neil Cole, Director of Wealth Planning Product Development & Management at UBS had this to say about their win in 2016, “The Growth Investor Awards have quickly become a significant event in the calendar – a chance to recognise organisations and individuals who are going the extra mile to help support small businesses in the UK. At UBS Wealth Management we strongly support investment into growing UK companies & are pleased to be shortlisted for the Awards again this year.”

Commenting on the announcement of the financial adviser and wealth management
finalists. Tim Hames, Director General of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA), said: “Many UK businesses have achieved their growth ambitions thanks to injections of tax-advantaged capital such as EIS, SEIS and VCTs. Financial advisers and wealth managers continue to play a crucial role in raising awareness and encouraging take-up of these attractive funding solutions for companies across the whole of Britain.”

The winners across all 16 categories will be announced at an exclusive black tie awards dinner, to be held on Wednesday 8th November at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, Lancaster Gate, London.
